£1 million global contract for Scottish oil and gas service company leads to 6 new jobs

Scottish oil and gas service company, TEMS International has landed a £1million global contract with an independent American oil and gas exploration and production company.

The Aberdeen-based drilling fluid systems specialist has signed a master service agreement with Murphy Oil Corporation, which has operations around the world.  The initial scope of work will lead to TEMS International creating six new full-time posts, the majority of which will be operational roles.

TEMS International will provide fluid management and environmental compliance services on-board a number of Murphy’s rigs in the Gulf of Mexico and in south-east Asian waters.  The services will identify where improvements can be made to the performance of the rigs’ fluid systems to increase efficiency and reduce costs, while ensuring operations remain compliant with environmental and governmental legislation.

This is the second global contract that TEMS International has secured within the past six months, underlining its strong start to 2018.  In February, the firm announced it had secured a global multi-year contract with leading Anglo-Australian resources company BHP.

A year after its launch, TEMS international is pressing ahead with its international expansion plans, recently appointing an agent in Kuala Lumpur to represent it and support growth in the Far East and Australian markets.  This comes a few months after the firm established an office in the United States.

Capable of working both onshore and offshore, TEMS International seeks to work as an integral part of an operator’s drilling team, providing significant cost savings over the life-cycle of their drilling campaigns.  As an independent firm TEMS International is not aligned to any single drilling equipment manufacturer or service provider, meaning that it can give unbiased recommendations to clients.

Bill Walkingshaw, TEMS International managing director, said: “Improving drilling efficiency and ensuring environmental and regulatory compliance remain key drivers in oil and gas provinces around the world, as illustrated by this contract award.  By achieving cost efficiencies operators can make campaigns more sustainable, which can in turn create confidence across the whole industry.

“For TEMS International, at this stage in our evolution, securing a second major contract within a six-month period is significant.  The plan is to grow our business internationally and the structure we are putting in place will support this.  Our decision to establish an American office is already having positive results, with our team holding a lot of good discussions with operators at OTC.”
