£2 million available for community projects

MORE than £2 million is still available for community projects through a scheme managed by Aberdeen City Council. 

The council was awarded £3.8 million from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) Communities and Place.

Almost £1.5 million has already been awarded to 14 projects across the city, including:  

  • Community engagement project by Aberdeen Science Centre (£236,800);  
  • Safety Training for Schools by Absafe (£103,191);  
  • Support Vulnerable Families by Home Start Aberdeen (£82,468). 

 Aberdeen City Council Co-Leader Councillor Ian Yuill said: “It is great to see the variety of projects in Aberdeen that have received money from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Funding like this can make a positive difference for communities across Aberdeen.” 

Aberdeen City Council Co-Leader Councillor Christian Allard said: “I strongly encourage people with projects to apply before the next deadline on 23 November. The government’s funding must be used in full.”  

The fund is open to public sector organisations, community groups and social enterprises.

The next application deadline is 23 November 2023. There are two further application deadlines in 2024.
