Two North East site managers are celebrating this week after both receiving a prestigious industry award from the National Home Building Council (NHBC).

CALA Homes’ Ross Black, site manager at the leading housebuilder’s Craibstone Estate development in Aberdeen, and Fred Anderson, from CALA at Grandhome in Bridge of Don, have both won a 2019 ‘Pride in the Job Quality Award’. This award is in recognition of their commitment to delivering high quality results and achieving the highest possible standards in the house building sector.

The award marks Fred’s second consecutive year winning the title at the CALA at Grandhome development, and his fifth in a row since joining the company, back in 2014.

The NHBC Pride in the Job awards recognise the industry’s best site managers, and celebrates the exceptional contribution site managers make in creating homes of outstanding quality. A Pride in the Job award is the highest industry accolade a site manager can achieve, and represents success for the site manager and their team.

Around 16,000 site managers across the UK were assessed this year, with only 450 winners selected, putting those awarded with the accolade amongst the industry’s top two per cent who produce the best quality new homes, built and finished to the highest possible standards.

Fred and Ross will both now go through to the next stage of the competition, the Seal of Excellence Awards, which will be announced on the 4 October 2019.

Steve Jarvie, Construction Director for CALA Homes (North), said: “CALA Homes is synonymous with excellent quality and service, and I am thrilled that both Fred, Ross and their teams have been recognised by the NHBC for delivering exactly that.

“Our independent customer satisfaction scores show that 93% of customers would recommend CALA to a friend, which is testament to the pride, care and attention that goes into creating every home at CALA. My thanks go to both site managers and their teams for taking pride in their jobs, and for delivering what are set to be stunning developments across the North.”

As well as undergoing spot checks of the day-to-day running of their site, each site manager is assessed across 37 different areas of site management, including technical knowledge, quality and consistency.

Ross Black, Site Manager at CALA Homes’ Craibstone development, said: “To receive my first Pride in the Job award for CALA Homes is a huge achievement for not only myself, but my team. This award is testament to their support and dedication towards delivering high quality results.”

Fred Anderson, Site Manager at CALA Homes’ Grandhome development said: “Even though this is my fifth Pride in the Job award with CALA, it means just as much to me now as it did the first time round. I’d like to thank my team for their commitment to quality and for all of the hard work they put in daily to help create homes that we can be proud to deliver to buyers across the region.”

Craibstone Estate comprises a stunning collection of three, four and five-bedroom terraced, semi-detached and detached homes, as well a mix of contemporary apartments. Forming part of a pioneering new community, the development is located in a picturesque rural setting, while remaining close to all the amenities of Aberdeen city centre.

CALA at Grandhome in Bridge of Don offers a selection of modern three and four-bedroom family homes and chic, stylish one and two-bedroom apartments. With just one home remaining from the first phase of the development and the recent announcement of new homes at Mains at Grandhome, the site has proven popular with families, first time buyers and downsizers alike.
