Animal nutrition specialists, Norvite, has appointed two new nutritionists to strengthen their technical and commercial teams.

Dr Matt Palmer has joined as Technical Manager. Matt graduated from Edinburgh University in 2001 with an Agricultural Sciences degree (with Honours in Animal Science) and worked for two years with a farm consultancy based in the South West of England focusing on support to dairy businesses.

He then returned to Edinburgh University to work on a PhD in the subject area of forage characterisation and ration modelling. This work led to a position with Bioparametrics Ltd., a university roll-out company. Matt has since been with another national feed business for the past 12 years, most recently as Dairy Technical Nutritionist.

Andrea (Andy) Bosio recently graduated from SRUC, having been awarded the Norvite Scholarship for 2018/19. Andy is originally from Italy and moved to Scotland four years ago to study Agriculture at SRUC Edinburgh. During last year’s honours project Andy had the opportunity to work with Prof Jos Houdijk on a nutrient efficiency project in growing and finishing pigs. Andy joins Norvite as a Graduate Trainee Nutritionist.

Ed Smith, Managing Director at Norvite said:

“We are delighted to welcome both Matt and Andy to the Norvite team. Matt is one of the preeminent dairy nutritionists in the country and brings a great deal of experience to Norvite. His appointment is an extremely positive move for Norvite, given Matt’s incredibly strong reputation. Andy’s studies demonstrate his knowledge and passion for the sector and he too will be an extremely valuable and valued member of the team.

“The two appointments come at a key time for the agricultural industry and for Norvite. They strengthen our technical capability which further distinguishes Norvite as an innovative and progressive business.”
