ABERDEENSHIRE based tarmacadam company, Don Tarmacadam have expanded their business with the acquisition of Perth based tarmacadam company King Contractors and have appointed a new director.

Steven Allan, a well-known figure in the industry, will be managing the new acquisition, King Contractors as the Commercial Director, with the new company functioning as the Perthshire arm of Don Tarmacadam.

Having worked at Breedon for over 15 years and Tayside Contracts for a further 15, Steven Allan has a wealth of expertise in road maintenance, with experience in the commercial sector that made him perfectly suited for the new role.

The acquisition and appointment came about due to Don Tarmacadam’s continued success and growth over the past several years in Aberdeenshire and beyond.

Currently, King Contractors have 30 employees and provide predominantly road surfacing and plant hire services for commercial businesses. They will continue to trade under their own name with Steven Allan at its head, as part of the Don Tarmacadam business. However, they will aim to expand both their employee base and their services they can offer as they consolidate their position in the market.

Don Tarmacadam managing director Paul Stafford said “I’m looking forward to working with Steven as the company continues to grow and expand. The acquisition of King Contracts is a huge opportunity for the company, and I am excited to see where it takes us.”

“With the acquisition of Kings Contractor, we can consolidate our position in both the North-East and further south, as the lead surfacing company of choice”

Steven added, “I’ve known Paul and Don Tarmacadam for a long time, and they have always had the highest standards of work. I’m looking forward to the tremendous opportunities that this appointment will give me”

“The acquisition represents more than just an increase in the company’s reach. We are effectively doubling our expertise and knowledge, enabling us to provide a higher service to both the commercial and private markets.”

The expanded business of Don Tarmacadam and King Contractors will maintain its staff of 60 across both the Aberdeen and Perth locations and are working towards growing their business and service offerings throughout 2019.
