THE LEGACY of the North Sea and the challenges ahead for the UK sector will be under the spotlight during a key industry event later this month.

“50 years of Firsts” from Energy Voice and Scottish Enterprise will assemble an expert panel to dive into the major milestones of the UK industry and set the scene for the Offshore Europe showcase.

Hosted at the International School of Aberdeen on August 31, the event will assess crucial challenges for the sector’s new energy horizons, such as skills, sustainability and diversification.

With unrivalled archive footage from the Press & Journal’s vaults, the session will also celebrate the longevity and crucial importance of the sector over the last 50 years, with keynote speakers from Offshore Energies UK and Scottish Enterprise.

Ryan Stevenson, Head of Energy Voice, said “We’re delighted to be bringing together a number of industry leaders in this unique event to reflect on some of the key milestones which have shaped the North Sea over the last 50 years and to look ahead to what the future could hold. The ISA is the perfect venue for us to do this as the school celebrates its own 50 year anniversary and we’re very much looking forward to collaborating on this preview event for Offshore Europe.”

Expert Panel:

  • Allister Thomas, Editor, Energy Voice (Moderator)
  • Suzanne Sosna, Director of Economic Opportunities and Climate, Scottish Enterprise
  • David Whitehouse, CEO, Offshore Energies UK
  • Lisa Mitchell, Commercial Director, STATS Group
  • Bob Ruddiman, Head of Energy, Burness Paull
  • Ingrid Huldal, Director for Portfolio Advancement, Expro
  • Alasdair Green, Partner & Head of Energy, AAB
  • Chris Durling, Finance Director & Group M&A, 3t Energy Group

Energy Voice hope you’ll join them for the evening to celebrate five decades of success with a lively panel discussion, gallery presentation and networking drinks reception.
