IN THIS day and age, it’s more important than ever to stay safe while browsing the internet. Here are six tips to help ensure a safer browser experience for you and your loved ones. By following these simple tips, you can browse the internet with peace of mind, knowing that your personal information is protected. Thanks for reading!

Use a VPN

Use a VPN If you are looking to have a safer browser experience, one of the most important things you are going to need to do is to use a VPN. There are many free VPN tutorials online that can help you learn how it works and what it is all about. A VPN, or virtual proxy network, is essentially an app that acts as a middleman that hides your IP address.

However, a VPN does much more than that. As mentioned above, VPNs offer the ability, to act as a middleman. What this means is that instead of data being transmitted directly to and from the website you are visiting and your computer, it is instead routed through the VPN. This means that websites won’t have direct access to your information and data, and it also hides your internet browsing history.

Don’t Use Unprotected Sites

One of the simplest ways that you can enjoy a safer browsing experience is simply by not using unprotected websites. If you are new to search engines, an unprotected website is a website that doesn’t make use of any sort of security, such as SSL encryption.

SSL encryption, or secure socket layer encryption, is simply a form of security that most websites use. This type of security encrypts the information that is sent, received, and stored on the site. In other words, this means that any potential hackers won’t have an easy time intercepting or accessing your information.

Install Anti-Virus Software

Another very important method of ensuring a safer browsing experience is by installing antivirus software. While it is true that Windows does come with antivirus software, it is not as good as some other antivirus software on the market that is packed with far more features.

The biggest benefit of antivirus software is that if you do unfortunately visit an unprotected site or download a suspicious file, your antivirus software will block that file before it can even reach your computer. More importantly, some antivirus software will monitor your browsing history and warn you when an unsecured connection is about to be made.

Use Different Passwords

One of the biggest mistakes that you could make when browsing the Internet is using the same password for every site that you visit. While it might be a pain to have to remember all of your passwords, using the same password for every site does increase the chances of negative consequences.

If you can’t remember the various passwords that you are using for different websites, you could download a password manager that will store all of these passwords for you. Or you could do it the old-fashioned way and simply write down all of your different passwords for different websites, which is basically what a password manager will do.

Install an Adblocker

One of the biggest risks that could be threatening your browsing experience is ads. Unfortunately, many websites that you might visit might have ads that link to either unsecured connections or websites that are filled with viruses or malware.

What an ad blocker will do is simply block an ad from popping up. The most annoying thing about ads is the fact that they will redirect you to another website without your consent. By installing an adblocker, you prevent this from happening and increase your security.

Don’t Use Autofill Feature

Finally, the last tip on this list to enjoy a safer browsing experience would be to not use the autofill feature that Google offers. If you’re not aware of what that is, the autofill features auto-fills information on websites that you have visited before to improve the user experience.

Unfortunately, the problem with using the autofill feature is the fact that it makes you susceptible to cybercriminals. More importantly, it also means that anyone who uses your computer will have access to your passwords and information. As mentioned above, you can just use a password manager, which is a perfect solution.
