Joining a scale up part 2 – The Daily Scaleup with Kim McAllister

I find myself on a train to Inverness sitting next to an American family and I’m trying very hard not to tell them all about my destination.

I’m en route to GlenWyvis Distillery again and things continue to steam ahead. We are but a snifter away from our first open share offer target of £250,000 – £2231 away, to be precise.

Today I have a top secret mission as we have a super exciting announcement to make shortly. I’m dying to tell you, but I should really respect my own embargo.

The construction of the whisky distillery is moving at an incredible pace – the bonded warehouse is now in place. The time-lapse video we shared of the process proved very popular and I’m really looking forward to seeing the progress since my last visit.

There is so much going on as we build up to the opening on 30 November (St Andrew’s Day) that I’m sticking very closely to the content calendar in order not to miss anything!

This weekend GlenWyvis will be at the Loch Ness Knit Fest. You may wonder about the connection. Well, three alpacas live on the farm where the distillery is located and their wool is spun and knitted into tiny hats for the GlenWyvis gin bottles.

I had some fun with this one. Josh, the office manager, told me all about the process and I couldn’t resist but turn it into a fairytale. I shared it on the Facebook page yesterday and so far we have 108 reactions (including love and laughter) and 17 shares. Read it and let me know what you think.

The gin is proving hugely popular. It’s made with nine premium botanicals, including locally sourced hawthorn berries, and is currently created offsite, although the plan is to bring it home.

I’m more of a rum drinker, but I must admit the gin is delicious. It stands alone as a great product and has the added bonus of helping to promote the GlenWyvis brand while we wait for the whisky to be produced.

It really is hugely exciting being involved with a company that’s growing so fast. There’s great scope to be creative and when you believe in what you’re promoting it makes the job a pleasure. I’ve become quite addicted to checking the totaliser on the website and feel personal pride every time someone invests.

Nope, I can’t hold off any longer, I really must tell the tourists…
