Pioneering digital transformation firm Valorem Reply is celebrating the success of its life-saving mobile app, Aberdeen Protects, after receiving hundreds of downloads within its first year of launch.
A prioritised Microsoft Cloud Solutions Partner, Valorem Reply – part of the Reply Group – focuses on transforming businesses into intelligent enterprises and helping nonprofits achieve more with AI enabled, cloud native solutions, strategic business outcome focus and user-led design.
Originally appointed by Aberdeen City Council in 2024 to develop a mobile app that would help the city reduce drug-related deaths – particularly from opioid overdoses – Valorem Reply partnered with Microsoft technologies to develop a digital, location-aware and stigma-free solution that would bridge the gap between life-threatening risk and lifesaving action.
Built on Microsoft Azure Cloud, the free app – Aberdeen Protects – provides step-by-step guidance for overdose response together with details of local naloxone suppliers – a medication that reverses the effects of opioids which many people are unaware of. It also provides real-time alerts about contaminated drug supplies and easy access to support services.
Hailed as a critical component in the City’s overdose prevention infrastructure and supported by NHS Grampian, Alcohol & Drugs Action, Aberdeen in Recovery, and the Aberdeen City Health and Social Care Partnership, the app officially launched in August 2024 and over the last 14 months alone has been downloaded and utilised hundreds of times.
Adrian Cloke, Partner of Valorem Reply, confirmed: “The Aberdeen Protects app is a true example of how technology has the capability to both impact and transform lives for the better. We are delighted with the number of downloads and positive community response received to date and feel optimistic that it will make a long-term, positive impact in reduce drug-related deaths throughout the local community.”
