Aberdeen-based AJT Engineering acquires Black Gold Oil Tools

AJT Engineering based in Tullos, Aberdeen has acquired local Aberdeen downhole tool company Black Gold Oil Tools Limited. AJT Engineering has purchased the total shareholding in the company from former Managing Director, Mel Maitland.

Ken Gauld, AJT Engineering Ltd.’s Managing Director said: “We are very pleased to have been able to acquire Black Gold Oil Tools as Mel heads into a well-earned retirement. I am delighted that Allan Leslie and Tom Flynn will continuing with the company in the same roles as it joins the AJT Engineering group.”

He added: “All Black Gold Oil Tools’ staff will be continuing with the business and this is another step in our expansion plans for 2018 as we actively recruit for additional personnel.”

Black Gold Oil Tools Limited is a specialist in precision oilfield engineering, manufacture and repair. Since its launch in 1974, the company has developed extensive experience in the manufacture and repair of downhole tools. They have a skilled workforce and pride themselves on quality and working to strict standards.

Ken explained: “The business will continue to trade as Black Gold Oil Tools Ltd and becomes part of the AJT Group of companies.  With its location adjacent to our existing site at Altens, the additional yard space provides the welcome opportunity to expand our storage and maintenance provision and will allow us to consolidate various business streams on the one site.”

Ken added: “Black Gold Oil Tools has an excellent reputation for quality and service and is a name known worldwide. This acquisition is a good fit for AJT Engineering. Importantly, it will also allow us to expand the AJT Site Services division and opens new markets for AJT Engineering.”
