Aberdeen-based First Group makes UK acquisition

ABERDEEN-based First Group has confirmed the acquisition of UK coach company Anderson Travel this morning.

Anderson Travel is currently in operation with 40 coaches of various sizes in and around London, from a depot near Tower Bridge in the heart of the city to a newer, smaller location near Heathrow airport. Its services include contracts with schools and private hire, mini coach services at Heathrow airport, a daily day trip program for international guests from London, and private group tours.

Graham Sutherland, FirstGroup Chief Executive Officer said: “The acquisition of Anderson Travel, an experienced and profitable coach company, builds on our recent strategic acquisitions in the B2B and B2C coach market.

“We will continue to identify and assess opportunities to diversify and grow as we increase our share of the adjacent services market in the UK, where we see considerable opportunity for stable, long-term and value accretive growth.”

For the fiscal year ending June 30, 2023, Anderson Travel reported earnings of £7.3 million and earnings before interest and taxes of £1 million. Mark Anderson, the founder and the majority shareholder of Anderson Travel, will remain in charge of the company’s day-to-day operations as it merges into First Bus.
