THE Aberdeen Christmas Market continues to be a success with an average of 5,000 people visiting each weekend.

The event, held within the Bon Accord Centre and organised by Aberdeen Inspired, has given a fantastic boost to local crafters who have had the vast majority, if not all of their Christmas fairs cancelled due to Covid-19.

The market showcases products and services from around 25 socially distanced stallholders each weekend and is also raising money for Charlie House

Local crafter Jacqui Stuart from 13-23 Jewellery enjoyed a bumper four-day of sales selling her handmade sterling silver jewellery as well as a range of accessories including scarves, snoods and gloves.

She said:  “It was a fantastic event and it was great to see so many people come along and support local businesses like myself.

“There’s no doubt it’s been a tough time for crafters but I was delighted to take part and help raise money for such a great cause as Charlie House at the same time.

“I think it definitely helped to bring some festive cheer to the city.”

Adrian Watson, Aberdeen Inspired chief executive, said: “The past three weekends of the Aberdeen Christmas Market have gone really well and we have been delighted with the positive feedback we have been getting from the public and traders alike.

“Aberdeen Inspired has worked hard to bring this together and bring some festive cheer in amongst a hugely difficult year and the market is part of the fantastic retail offering shoppers from across the north-east can visit.

“It has clearly proved popular and safely attracted high numbers of people, and that footfall coming into the city centre will have had a positive knock on effect to other local businesses at a time when it is most needed.”

The market runs Thursday to Sunday until December 23.
