AHEAD of World Mental Health Day on Sunday (10th October 2021), local charity Mental Health Aberdeen (MHA) has received a £250 donation from Aberdeen-headquartered design, print and display expert XIC.
The funds came from profits of XIC’s bespoke Mental Health Aberdeen SQUAD Snood; a handy accessory that can also be worn as a face covering, a headband, a wristband or a beanie. The sale of each custom-made snood saw £2 going straight back into MHA’s important work in the city.

Graeme Kinghorn, the new chief executive at MHA, said: “Mental health has never been more important and it’s fundraising like this that means we can keep supporting those in need. We’re so grateful to XIC for continuing to champion MHA wherever and whenever they can, and working with them to create our branded snood was a lot of fun.”
XIC’s managing director, Murray Alexander, comments: “MHA has offered vital help to those who are struggling for more than 70 years and we’re so happy to be helping them continue. Support from local people, businesses across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, and other organisations is essential to keep their services running.
“The stats say that one in every four Scots – at the very least – will experience mental ill-health at some point in their lives, and the pandemic certainly hasn’t helped matters.”
Graeme adds: “Anyone and everyone can do their bit to keep mental health on the radar locally. At work, give your team confidence you’re there if they need to talk by kitting them out with snoods. If you’ve personally struggled with mental ill-health recently or in the past, show your strength with a snood.
“And if you just want to do good, break down stigmas and raise awareness, we salute you and would be delighted to kit you out for winter.”
