An Aberdeen art duo has launched an eco-conscious, online gift service offering unique and beautiful curated gift boxes.

Native Sister is the brainchild of Aimi Porter (32) and Emma Mackenzie (31), friends who met studying at Gray’s School of Art and years later have decided to step into the world of business together.

Aimi explained the pair have been delighted with the response to the launch of their website.  She said: “One of our gift boxes sold out in little more than a week of going online.  Between us, myself and Emma have lived in six cities across five countries and it was when maintaining relationships long distance, not only with each other but with family, friends and partners, that the seed for our gifting dream was planted.

“We found it challenging to find unique and special gifts for our loved ones without trawling the shops or internet for hours.  And even when we did, adding a personal touch and posting it ourselves cost an arm and a leg.  We knew there had to be a better way to make the whole process of gifting inspiring, enjoyable and affordable.”

Native Sister helps its customers turn giving into art with gift boxes organised into themes, such as ‘The Dreamer’ and ‘The Earth Mama’.  It also offers the opportunity to build custom boxes for occasions including weddings and corporate events.

Emma said: “Each product that goes into one of our gift boxes has been carefully researched and selected to result in a cohesive gift with creative flair.

“We love the feeling you get when you watch a loved one open a gift you have bought them and strive to embody and honour that feeling.

“It’s also important to us that we consciously consider the environment in every decision we make and aim to work with brands who share this passion with us.

“We source all our packaging from within the UK.  Our branded gift boxes are produced and printed by hand at one of the last rigid box makers left in the country.

“We’re excited for the future and can’t wait to help our customers embrace their inner artist and enjoy the wonderful feeling of giving.”
