Data, energy and people in engineering will be the focus of an event being held for industry experts, innovators and students in Aberdeen.
The Real Projects Talk event will take place on Thursday, May 22 at ONE Tech Hub in the city’s Schoolhill, hosted by AFBE-UK (Scotland), from 5.30-7.30pm.
Expert speakers will provide unique insights based on extensive experience in their respective fields, offering attendees a comprehensive view of how data, energy and people are crucial for the future of engineering.
Dr Ollie Folayan MBE, co-chair of the Association for Black and Minority Ethnic Engineers (AFBE-UK Scotland), said: “We are currently at a crucial stage in the energy sector, balancing the need for energy security with the opportunities presented by the energy transition and the impact of increased digitisation.
“At the centre of these challenges are real people and communities—those who will shape the future of energy and whose livelihoods will be most affected by these changes. For this reason, we are excited to bring together three thought leaders in this field. Join us to be inspired, learn, and have the opportunity to network with key leaders in the field.”
Event speakers include:
- David Lecore, head of data services and compliance, North Sea Transition Authority, who will discuss the role of data driving forward digital transformations.
- David Whitehouse, chief executive officer at Offshore Energies UK, will discuss innovative approaches to sustainable energy solutions and their impact on environmental and economic sectors.
- Mavis Anagboso, head of diversity, equity and inclusion, Harbour Energy, will address the crucial role of people in tech, emphasising how diverse perspectives lead to innovative solutions.
AFBE-UK is a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting diversity and inclusion in engineering and technology. It empowers students and professionals from ethnic minority backgrounds to excel and thrive in their careers through impactful programmes and mentoring initiatives including Transition and NextGen – led by senior engineering and technology professionals.
The organisation aims to address the skills gap in the UK’s engineering sector and inspire the next generation of talent.
