Aberdeen-based AV One Solutions has been named a finalist in the prestigious AV Awards 2026 for its work on The James Hutton Institute’s pioneering Immersive Visualisation Suite.
AV One has been shortlisted for Public Sector Project of the Year, recognising the delivery of the innovative facility at The James Hutton Institute’s Craigiebuckler campus in Aberdeen.
The AV Awards celebrate excellence across the global audiovisual industry, with this year’s shortlist selected from a high standard of entries showcasing projects delivered over the past year.
The Immersive Visualisation Suite was created as a living laboratory where researchers can use the technology to step inside complex environmental data, explore it collaboratively and communicate scientific information in new and engaging ways. The project presented AV One with a number of technical challenges, not least creating a seamless visual experience across a combination of flat and curved projection surfaces. The team overcame this by integrating nine synchronised projectors with spatial audio, advanced media serving and automated alignment technologies.
Within its first nine months of operation, the suite, officially opened by First Minister John Swinney, hosted around 200 events and welcomed close to 2,000 visitors. Supporting both environmental research and wider stakeholder engagement, visitors have included representatives from government, public agencies, industry, academia, community organisations and education.
