The former rugby player from Mintlaw, Aberdeenshire, lost his legs six years ago after he was run down by a police van while out with friends in Arran, becoming hospitalised for seven months.

His injuries proved to be life threatening, however, Daniel has exemplified that positive life could come from such devastating circumstances. The episode explains his challenges and desires for employment as we see his journey unfold, trying to secure a position with the media company and the hurdles both Daniel and AVC Immedia have to overcome together.

Part of Immedia Group plc, AVC Immedia specialising in video production and 3D animation. Managing Director Spencer Buchan also featured in the episode and comments on the experience both with Daniel and putting the team at AVC Immedia in a ‘warts and all’ position in front of a national TV audience.

Spencer said “When Endemol first approached us to get involved, I was apprehensive to say the least, as we ourselves produce video and content, so I understood the challenges involved in making such a programme and how the business might handle a production crew on site for an extended period of time.

Once I watched episodes from the first series and I read Daniel’s story and then met him, I was left with no concerns that helping Daniel get back into the workplace was absolutely the right thing to do for Daniel and for us to really see how we operated as a team under new pressures.”

The third episode in the series produced by Endemol sees Daniel relive his horrific accident and how he overcomes his personal demons of acceptance in a new workplace setting. Daniel is seen facing both the physical and mental obstacles that a new challenging environment throws at him. Throughout the episode, Daniel works with AVC Immedia on developing and delivering a design campaign for an AVC Immedia client. The question is, will Daniel do enough to convince the media firm decision makers that he has a future in Graphic Design?
