A strategic £3.2million funding boost is set to power significant growth at a leading Aberdeen-based green energy consultancy, enabling a major expansion in sustainable power solutions for businesses across the UK.
Biosus Energy, which specialises in advising and installing advanced renewable energy systems such as solar panels and biomass-based Combined Heat and Power (CHP) generators, secured the funding from HSBC UK.
The capital injection will be used to purchase 14 state-of-the-art CHP generators, expanding the firm’s ability to provide renewable heat and power, as well as eco-friendly byproducts like wood chips and biochar to commercial clients. These technologies are part of ongoing efforts to support industries including whisky distilleries and manufacturing plants on their transition to net zero emissions
Ecogenesis, the project developer for the machines, and part of the Biosus Energy group, will operate the generators and convert sustainable wood into heat and power. The systems will also produce byproducts – wood chips and biochar – which can be sold to improve soil composition and support the circular economy
This investment is already driving substantial growth, with the company expects to double its turnover and create up to six jobs across Scotland, with opportunities in regions such as South Lanarkshire and Aberdeen.
The new generators will support base power provision to the national grid, stimulate local spending, and foster green skills development in the installation and maintenance of renewable infrastructure.
Garth Way, co-founder, expressed optimism about the expansion. He commented:
“This is an exciting time of expansion for us, the funding from HSBC will support our plans to double our turnover and create up to 6 new jobs. We value the expertise and support that HSBC UK provides and would not be in this stage of business development without them.”

Commenting on the bank’s commitment to the green transition, Tim Laundon, relationship director at HSBC UK, said:
“We are pleased to continue our support for Biosus and its goal of supporting companies through the green energy transition. We look forward to seeing Biosus embark on its new chapter providing further services to its clients with this investment.”
The growth trajectory showcases the accelerating UK shift toward sustainable energy and demonstrates how targeted funding can unlock the economic and environmental potential of renewable projects. With new generators, the company is positioned to further its work powering businesses and regional grids with low-carbon solutions as both policy and market demand for sustainable credentials continue to rise.
