A LEADING Aberdeen-based group of electrical companies is celebrating its landmark tenth anniversary in the US.

It is a decade since AEL established a presence in Houston, growing from its inception within the Scottish Development International incubator facility to its own office and warehouse space in the city’s Energy Corridor.

Operations in and from the busy Houston hub now employ a total of 14 personnel and account for almost a third of the company’s overall £10+ million revenues.

The creation of a permanent physical presence in the US also provided an important springboard into Latin America and the company’s 20-strong team in Mexico is celebrating its own anniversary, marking five years in the region.

A general upturn in business across the group of companies has sparked an ongoing recruitment drive across its main locations, as the company seeks to capitalise on opportunities in both traditional markets such as energy and emerging sectors such as renewables.

President of AEL’s US operations Alan Mackie commented: “In spite of challenges including incorporating the company to operate in the US, the global pandemic and more we have worked hard to achieve organic year-on-year growth.  This has been rewarded with an even split of revenues between UK and overseas operations.

“Central to our growth strategy is our approach to customer relations, primarily our ability to flex and adapt to use our global footprint to accompany the clients we work with on their own journeys.

“Internally, we have emphasised focus on training our staff and creating opportunities for development and promotion.”

Founded in 1981, AEL is an international brand providing electrical products and services to the onshore, offshore, renewable, petrochemical, marine and industrial sectors.  While proud to remain a family business, AEL has the global capability to offer a broad range of electrical products and services.  AEL operates from a network of strategically placed international offices as well as its HQ in Aberdeen.  To find out more, visit www.ael-electrical.com
