An Aberdeen headquartered inspection technology and service provider has secured a seven-figure contract with a leading player in the UK’s oil and chemical industry for the inspection of their storage tanks.
Innospection has secured its first contract with Essar Oil UK, which operates the Stanlow Manufacturing Complex, one of the largest refineries in the UK producing 16% of road transport fuels.

The multi-year term contract, which will cover both the Stanlow Manufacturing Complex and the Tranmere Oil Terminal sites, is also the UK’s largest onshore tank inspection contract awarded in 2018.
Innospection’s MECTM trained team of engineers will be servicing this contract from their Ellesmere Port office, using the firm’s range of high performance MECTM floor scanners.

Due to utilising an electromagnetic technique, it’s only necessary to carry out minor preparation and limited cleaning of the surface. TankIQTM software can also provide more accurate defect detection and definition,for integrity purposes, as well as allowing a quicker turnaround and returning tanks back into service for Essar.
“The MECTM floor scanner has the advantage of being able to work through tank floor linings, where other floor scanning technology would require the lining to be removed, as well as allowing for the inspection of both stainless and carbon steel tanks, with or without coating.
“This means we can deliver high-quality, detailed inspections but with minimal disruption and outage time for our client.”
