The airport has already launched the initial phases of the transformation project with the new international arrivals baggage reclaim opening earlier this year. The new executive lounge facility will replace the current multi-airline lounge in the terminal and will offer passengers 50% more space than before.
Carol Benzie, Managing Director at Aberdeen International Airport said: ‘We are very excited to be working in partnership with Compass Group and many local suppliers to present our new Northern Lights Executive Lounge. The lounge has been designed with Aberdeenshire in mind and will offer passengers a much heightened quality of experience. The new lounge boasts locally-inspired décor, stunning, panoramic runway views, and an exclusive, locally-sourced menu crafted by the Kilted Chef, Craig Wilson, of Eat on the Green. Passengers using the lounge will also have their pick of Brewdog craft beers, Gordon Castle Gins and a feature whisky wall that presents an impressive catalogue of Scotland’s national drink. We are delighted with the quality of the new facility and look forward to welcoming our passengers to Northern Lights Executive Lounge in the future.’
Following on from the lounge opening, the airport’s new domestic baggage reclaim will be the next stage of the transformation project to go live opening to passengers in mid-July. The completion of the first phase of the project will then allow for the second phase to get well underway, which will see an enlarged and improved security area and new retail offers set to open before summer 2018.
