Aberdeen International Airport looks to support a local business

A CAFÉ at Aberdeen International Airport is not reopening due to the impact of Covid-19.

Now the airport and The Restaurant Group are looking to donate the commercial kit from Joe’s to a new business, charity or community group saving them potentially thousands of pounds in cost.

Included in the professional equipment are two large fridge displays, professional barista coffee machine, two commercial filter coffee machines, a commercial sized panini grill, commercially sized dishwasher, commercial ice maker and many more items.

Yvonne Birch, Aberdeen International Airport head of retail, said: “Sadly, our popular landside café Joe’s will not be reopening due to the impact of the pandemic however, The Restaurant Group (TRG), who operated Joe’s are kindly allowing us to find another business to donate the items to.

“It would be great if we could find these items a new home and help another business in the north-east.

“We think it would suit a start-up company looking at opening a café and these items could help save them thousands of pounds in costs.”

Joe’s closed as lockdown was announced back in March.

Ideally the airport is looking for one organisation who would be in a position to take all of the commercial equipment.

Emma Lindsay, Aberdeen International Airport environmental co-ordinator, said: “We are hoping that as one business closes, we will be able to help another one open.

“We are very thankful for TRG for allowing us to donate the items, help another local business and support a circular economy movement.”
