ABERDEEN International Airport has hosted a tour for public, private and third sector leaders in the North East.

Organised in conjunction with the Scottish Council for Development and Industry (SCDI) in Aberdeen the event was a sell out and first post pandemic business engagement event held by the transport hub.

Delegates were given a presentation about the airport and it’s operations before getting to see them up close during a behind the scenes tour.

It included the £20m terminal transformation finished in late 2019, the award-winning Northern Lights Lounge and snow clearing operations.

Mark Beveridge, Operations Director at Aberdeen International Airport said: “Our airport is an important indicator with the local economy and airport linked together.

“We are delighted there was an appetite for this event and that we were able to deliver worthwhile engagement with the business community.

“Our purpose is to make national and international connections that help our region and people prosper.

“Our door is always open to engage with the region and the business community as we continue to look at the connectivity the North East demands and deserves.”

John Urquhart, Regional North East Manager at SCDI, said: “This event was an amazing opportunity for our members to gain an insight into the airport operations and the significant investment made over the last few years.

“The North East’s air links are vital to the success of all aspects of the North East’s economy and an open dialogue with public, private, and third sectors will help ensure it grows sustainably.

“SCDI was pleased to have been able to facilitate this event and we look forward to doing more for our members in the future.
