WITH regular connections to almost 40 international and domestic airports, Aberdeen International Airport punches above its weight as a regional airport, looking after over two million passengers each year, travelling right across the globe. And Dyce is also home the busiest commercial heliport in the world.

However, the impact of the pandemic on the aviation sector cannot be overstated and routes are under constant pressure and review.

Aberdeen more than any other part of the UK is dependent on air connectivity to enable our internationally focused economy. Securing the future of our regional airport and connections to key hubs and cities will be central to our ability to reinvent our economy and the Chamber has been working tirelessly with AGS Airports and others to make the case for a defined package of further aviation support to ensure this.

But we need to help ourselves too to ensure we do not become just a distant Northern outpost.

A route development report is currently being prepared for the airport looking at current and future usage and trends.
