ABERDEEN’S Gilbert and Sullivan Society are setting sail for their next production of “The Pirates of Penzance” at The Tivoli Theatre from the 9th to the 11th of March 2023.
“The Pirates of Penzance”, also known as “The Slave of Duty” is one of Gilbert and Sullivan’s best known comedic operas. A rollicking, delightfully funny tale full of the usual twists and turns, it features a Pirate King with a forgiving streak, a group of cowardly Police, The Major-General and his many young daughters, a young lad with a true sense of duty and the story of young love.
Emily Scott, Chairman of the society, commented: “This group has been bringing G and S shows to Aberdeen since 1976 and Pirates never fails to be a crowd pleaser. As a show, it has a real timeless quality and has been performed across the world. We last performed this show in 2014 and are incredibly excited to return to the material.”
