CALA Homes (North) visited Westhill Primary School to talk to children about the homebuilding industry and how homes in their local community have been brought to life.
P7 pupils enjoyed an interactive session which covered some of the history of their community, fun facts about the Westhill area and an in depth look at how Cala Homes discovers new locations to build new neighbourhoods of family homes.

During her talk, Land Graduate, Eleanor Jack, used Cala’s development in Westhill, Burnland Meadows, as an example. She discussed the full lifespan of the development so far, explaining what the team did during the planning stages through to construction and the homes being ready to move into.
Eleanor said: “When we heard that the pupils at Westhill Primary School were learning all about how their local community began and continues to grow, we were delighted to be asked to visit to explain how new homes are created, right from the beginning when we first find a new site.
“Our nearby Burnland Meadows development was the perfect example to use to help illustrate this to the children with a new sustainable community that is on their doorstep and they will likely have seen come to life.
“It was also great to highlight the variety of jobs involved in building homes, and what our different teams do throughout the lifecycle of creating new homes.
“It was a fantastic session, and the children were incredibly enthusiastic and engaged – we hope that it has helped build their understanding of how Westhill and communities in general come to be.”
Shona Kathryn Alnasser, Teacher at Westhill Primary School, said: “This was a great opportunity for our pupils to find out more about the local area, career opportunities and how the houses that we live in are built.
“It was especially useful to hear more about Cala’s development in Westhill which gave the pupils a real life example of how homes in their town are being created right now and just how much planning and work goes into making them a reality.”
Burnland Meadows offers a collection of 38 four- and five-bedroom detached homes with prices starting from £405,000, set in semi-rural surroundings whilst only a short commute to Aberdeen city centre.
