An Aberdeen-based recruitment firm is celebrating its landmark 30th year in business by raising vital funds for charity with the launch of a special campaign that aims to engage and inspire the next generation.

Throughout November and December, Strategic Resources is raising money for three local causes through a special lottery, featuring several top prizes, with proceeds to be split evenly between Archway, Children 1stand JDRF.

The company, established in November 1987, has set a fundraising target of £5,000 as part of the anniversary celebrations. Further details can be found on its BT MyDonate page (http://bit.ly/2zob4RO).

Strategic Resources has also organised an art contest at neighbouring Gilcomstoun Primary School on Skene Street. More than 100 primary 4-7 pupils have been tasked with drawing or creating something that represents their chosen career or profession.

Representatives from each of the three charities will help with judging, before the winners are announced at a special prizegiving ceremony in February.

The company’s managing director, Shonah Raffan, first joined Strategic Resources in May 1988. Commenting on the milestone, she said: “As we approach our 30th anniversary, the team agreed unanimously that we wanted to mark the occasion by giving something back to the city centre community in a positive way.”

Suzanne Carson, head teacher at Gilcomstoun School, said: “We are all very excited to be working in partnership with Strategic Resources, especially as it is a business in the local area. It is a great opportunity for everyone involved, and particularly for our pupils to develop their skills and gain experience in working with a community partner.”

Based at Migvie House, North Silver Street, Strategic Resources provides personnel, contractor management services, outsourced payroll, and credit control services to companies of all sizes, from oil and gas operators to family-run businesses.

Its experienced team works closely with clients and contractors operating in sectors ranging from oil, gas and manufacturing to precision engineering, and material handling.

Shonah added: “To have reached 30 years – and still to be in a strong position today – is an incredible achievement and I would like to pay tribute to all our staff – several of whom have been with us for many years, as well as clients and contractors who have contributed to that long-standing success.

“Naturally, we have experienced our fair share of highs and lows over the past three decades. Like many others, we have had to broaden our range of services and diversify in terms of industry sector, becoming less reliant on our oil and gas customer base, and into new geographies such as the north of England.

“As the market gradually recovers, we are feeling very positive about what the future holds for us.”
