North East Rig Out (Aberdeen) Limited, a prominent clothing manufacturer operating for over four decades, has entered liquidation, resulting in the immediate loss of all eight jobs.
The company, also known as NERO, ceased operations after a meeting on 15 April determined it could no longer sustain trading due to its liabilities, according to official liquidation documents filed under the Insolvency Act 1986.
Insolvency firm MHA has been appointed liquidator for the Aberdeen-based business. Michael Reid, representing MHA, confirmed the challenging circumstances surrounding the closure, stating “This is a difficult situation for everyone involved”.
The collapse has been directly linked by the liquidator to the enduring difficulties faced by Scotland’s energy sector. These challenges have exerted continuous financial pressure on numerous businesses operating across the North-east region.
Reid elaborated: “The company faced sustained pressure as a result of the prolonged downturn in the energy sector, which has affected many businesses across the North-east. Unfortunately, eight people have been made redundant. Business assets have been sold by auction and the premises returned to the landlord.”
