Orbis Energy Innovations has invented a Internal Wall Insulation system, Orbis IWI – an engineered form of framing and insulation which has been developed over the last three years.

The man behind the invention is North-east engineer and Aberdeen Climate Action (ACA) member, David McGrath, who has over 20 years of experience in technical innovation and cleantech.

David developed the product with the system analysed and ratified by Dr Amar Bennadji and his team at The Scott Sutherland School of Architecture at Robert Gordon University.

With support, it is claimed has scientifically proven the easily installed system reduces heat loss through the treated wall element of granite or sandstone walls by up to 93% – making it the most efficient insulation option for those types of wall.

Following the launch of Orbis IWI in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, Orbis Energy Innovations plans to roll it out across Scotland and then Northern Ireland and England.

Earlier this month, Orbis Energy Innovations got an early boost when it’s director Beena Sharma won a place on the Scotland-wide Unlocking Ambition Programme.

Beena said: “After three years of development, we’re delighted to now be launching our class-leading Internal Wall Solution System.

“We know from the tests carried out on it by the RGU Scott Sutherland School of Architecture that it can make a significant contribution to achieving our goals of making homes more energy-efficient, reducing bills, fuel poverty and carbon emissions.

“We’ve already had a lot of interest from the people we’ve spoken to and are looking forward to seeing the difference this ground-breaking system will make to individuals, organisations and the planet.”
