Aberdeen Student Show has announced that their 2025 production, Seagully Blonde, will support 50 charities from across the North East of Scotland.
The annual Aberdeen Student Show, performed at His Majesty’s Theatre in Aberdeen, has a long-standing tradition of supporting local charitable causes with their most recent production raising a record-breaking £156,323.96 for charities in Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire.
This year, the students are continuing their commitment to supporting a variety of local charities notably including the People’s Choice Charity which was chosen through a public vote. For 2025, Down’s Syndrome Scotland Aberdeen has earned this prestigious honor and will be recognized as a Gold Charity.
A spokesperson for Down’s Syndrome Scotland Aberdeen said, “We’re absolutely thrilled to have been chosen as the people’s choice for this syear’s Student Show! Your support means the world to us and helps us continue our work supporting children and adults with Down’s Syndrome. A big thank you to everyone who voted for us and for Aberdeen Student Show to choose us!”
Along with Down’s Syndrome Scotland, four additional charities have been awarded Gold level funding, including SANDS, Hamish Dear’s Warm Hugs, LATNEM, and CLAN. These charities will each receive the highest level of support packages from the student-led society.
Moreover, the Aberdeen University society have made a special commitment this year to ensure a broad cohort of charities receive funding, with Administrator Sam Allan saying, “Every year the Aberdeen Students’ Show Charities Campaign donates all of the shows profits to charities in and around Aberdeen, this year we have made a special commitment to ensure that we are supporting all of Aberdeen. We are supporting groups with a huge variety of different aims and objectives. This year’s charities are based throughout Aberdeen City and Shire and support various age groups, medical requirements and community interest projects.”
He went on to say, “We are extremely proud that every penny raised in Aberdeen, stays right here in Aberdeen.”
