Staff at an Aberdeen software company have gone the extra mile – literally – in support of Hamish Dear’s Warm Hugs, a local charity dedicated to bringing joy to children facing serious illnesses.

Throughout February, the team at Elementz, a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) provider, specialising in subsea integrity management software for the global offshore energy sector, took part in a fundraising challenge to collectively walk 2.5 million steps to raise money and increase awareness for the charity’s work.

The Elementz Step Challenge crew have reached their incredible milestone, even surpassed their goal, turning each step into an opportunity to support children in need, all while encouraging fitness and teamwork.

Hamish Dear’s Warm Hugs was formed in memory of Tarves boy Hamish Dear with the mission of providing small yet impactful moments of happiness to children and their families going through difficult times. Whether through special gifts or memorable experiences, the charity helps bring comfort and smiles to those who need it most.

Hamish’s Mummy, Hollie Dear, visited the Elementz offices in Bridge of Don yesterday (Wednesday March 26th), to accept a cheque for £1840.

Commenting on the successful Step Challenge, Jason Brown, Elementz CEO, said, “I’m so proud of the whole team for stepping up in such a big way for such a worthwhile cause.

“Every step we took was a step toward making a difference, and the overwhelming support from our colleagues and community has been truly inspiring.”

Commenting on behalf of the charity, Hollie said, “A huge thank you to everyone at Elementz who took part in the Step Challenge and for the brilliant £1840 donation. This will go towards supporting children with a cancer diagnosis in Scotland by providing gifts, opportunities for days out and funding towards short breaks. Every penny raised will make a huge difference to the children we support, and we really appreciate the efforts – thank you!”
