A new Aberdeen IT business, 3 Bravo Technology, has set an ambitious target of achieving £1 million in turnover within its first 18 months of operation. The firm, led by managing director Bruce Buchan, aims to provide small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with access to IT support typically reserved for larger organisations.

Bruce Buchan previously founded Bruhan in 2017, an Aberdeen-based IT managed services provider that was subsequently acquired by Arrow Business Communications in 2023 for an undisclosed sum. Following the acquisition, Mr Buchan served as technical director at Arrow for two and a half years before deciding to embark on a new venture.

One of 3 Bravo Technology’s notable early appointments is former Aberdeen FC and Scotland international goalkeeper, Jim Leighton, as Business Development Manager. Leighton, who made over 500 appearances for Aberdeen across two spells and earned 91 caps for Scotland, transitioned into the business world after a distinguished football career.

Commenting on his new role to the P&J, Mr Leighton expressed enthusiasm for the company’s culture: “I’ve been fortunate to work with strong teams throughout my career – both in football and since moving into the world of business – that’s something that stands out at 3 Bravo. There’s a good culture, people work closely together, and everyone is focused on delivering the best possible service for clients. Coming in at the start of the company’s journey and being able to help shape its future is really exciting.”

Based in Dyce, 3 Bravo Technology focuses on acting as an external IT department for growing SMEs, supporting them in scaling their operations. Mr Buchan highlighted the firm’s unique proposition: “Our niche would be companies that are trying to grow, and they’re struggling with technology. We basically take that role on, and we are their internal IT department, give them that kind of warm, fuzzy feeling that we are there to support them. One thing that we kind of definitely talk about internally is the client comes first.”

The company’s ambitious growth trajectory includes not only the immediate £1 million revenue target but also a longer-term strategy to expand internationally over the next five years, while maintaining its headquarters in the UK. Mr Buchan remains confident in achieving these objectives, noting, “That’s achievable and we’ve certainly got aspirations to be there.”
