Come From Away will make its Scottish theatre debut in Aberdeen in September

CRITICALLY acclaimed musical Come From Away will have its Scottish premiere at Aberdeen’s His Majesty’s Theatre, opening on Tuesday, September 10 and running until Saturday, September 14.

Come From Away tells the remarkable true story of 7,000 stranded air passengers during the wake of 9/11, and the small town in Newfoundland that welcomed them.
The first female American Airlines captain, the quick-thinking town mayor, the mother of a New York firefighter and the eager local news reporter are among the many real characters caught at the start of the moment that changed the course of history, and whose stories became a true celebration of hope, humanity and unity.

Aberdeen Performing Arts Director of Programming and Creative Projects, Ben Torrie, said: “The success of this incredible show is the real stories of the individuals who came together under extraordinary circumstances and became a beacon for hope in dark times. With a fantastic score and inspirational story, this is a truly special production and we are thrilled to be hosting the Scottish premiere in Aberdeen.”

An internationally universal, timeless and globally relevant story showing the depth of human kindness in the wake of a worldwide atrocity. On 11 September 2001 the world stopped. On 12 September, their stories moved us all. A reminder of humanity, community, and generosity of spirit at its best.

A theatrical score that is both inspired by authentic contemporary Newfoundland music (mix of traditional celtic / folk-rock), and also captures the regional music styles of the ‘come-from- aways’.

Come From Away comes direct from the West End where it celebrated over 1000 performances and played to more than 850,000 people at the Phoenix Theatre.
