A PAIR of co-directors have been appointed for the Aberdeen University Centre for Energy Law (AUCEL).
Thomas Muinzner, a senior lecturer in Energy Transition Law, and Law lecturer Daria Shapovalova have taken up the appointments at the research and education institute.

It comes as former director Tina Hunter stepped down in order to take up a post at Macquarie Law School in Australia.
AUCEL describes itself as “one of the largest and most able energy faculty teams in any European law school”.
Mr Muinzner joined Aberdeen University earlier this year from Dundee University’s Centre for Petroleum, Mineral Law and Policy.
His research has focussed on areas around decarbonising the energy sector, including the first monograph to be produced on the UK’s Climate Change Act.
Mr Muinzner has also held lecturing roles at Queen’s University Belfast and Stirling University.
Outside of energy, he also explores “somewhat obscure or frequently neglected spheres of law in his work” like burial law, national monuments and cultural landmarks.
Ms Shapovalova became a lecturer at the university three years ago after completing her PhD.
Her research has covered climate change and energy law, indigenous rights and the effectiveness of international law.
