Aberdeen’s P&J Live has closed out 2025 with recognition from A Greener Future (AGF), the not-for-profit organisation dedicated to making the global event sector greener, as one of Europe’s Greener Arenas.
Having demonstrated its commitment to sustainability during 2025 through self-assessment, site visits, post-event evidence and an independent auditors’ report, the Scottish venue is proud to receive the recognition and certification from AGF.
Certification covered eleven key themes including local environments, community, travel, food, energy, water, waste, EDI and governance.
Claire O’Neill, CEO, AGF said: “Venues are the backbone of the live indoor sector and touring circuit. The more venues that take sustainability seriously, the more artists have a song sheet to sing from that connects with their values and perpetuates a greener event sector for everyone. Hats off to the greener arenas and venues who make the grade in 2025.”
Rob Wicks, Managing Director, P&J Live said: “Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do here in Aberdeen. With a dedicated green energy centre on site which generates cooling, heating and power to the venue and two on-site hotels, as well as a number of initiatives including our food waste initiative, Guardians of Grub, EV charging and hydrogen buses serving the venue, we are committed to a greener future. There’s still more to do as we stride into 2026, but we are most definitely on the right trajectory.”
A certification ceremony will take place as part of the International AGF Awards ceremony, which is held during the Green Events & Innovations (GEI18) Conference, in partnership with the International Live Music Conference (ILMC), on 24th February 2026 in London.
Arenas that achieve certification are automatically nominated for the International AGF Awards. The event is sponsored by Skydiamond and will feature the most innovative and green-aspiring global events, venues, organisations, and individuals from the last 12 months. Awards include the International Greener Festival Award, supported by Earth Positive Future, the Greener Power Award, supported by GeoPura, and the Greener Arena Award. The shortlist of nominees will be announced in January.
In Case You Missed it:
