Aberdeen welcomes Ministerial visit on work being done to reach Net-Zero

ABERDEEN welcomed Minister for Industry and Investment Security Nusrat Ghani in a visit to Aberdeen City Hydrogen Energy Storage (ACHES) on Thursday afternoon. 

The visit highlighted the progress being made in energy transition and reaching Net Zero in the region.

Minister Ghani met with representatives from Aberdeen City Council and bp during the visit to ACHES to hear more about the part played by hydrogen fuelled vehicles in the energy transition and plans for the Aberdeen Hydrogen Hub.  

Minister Ghani also toured the new Port of Aberdeen South Harbour during her visit.  

Aberdeen City Council Councillor Ian Yuill, Convener of Net Zero, Environment and Transport Committee said: “We are delighted to welcome Minister Ghani to Aberdeen and to be able to showcase the fantastic work being undertaken to reach Net Zero.  

“It is so important to emphasise the work currently being undertaken in the energy sector and to highlight the steps Aberdeen is taking to reach the goal of becoming Net Zero, including the use of hydrogen fuelled vehicles.”  

Minister for Industry and Investment Security Nusrat Ghani said: “As our gateway to the North Sea, Aberdeen is on the front line of our transition to net zero.  

“The work being pioneered in this city, from hydrogen to offshore wind, is helping lead the whole of the UK to a cleaner, greener future.” 

Nusrat Ghani was appointed Minister of State at the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy in September 2022 having previously served as Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Transport and Government Whip in 2019.
