Peterhead charity PACT has nominated in The BIG Christmas Giveback with £1500 in Aberdeenshire Gift Cards as a possible prize – and they need your help to win

An Aberdeenshire volunteer-led charity which improves people’s lives through sport and recreation has been nominated in The BIG Christmas Giveback, which aims to shine a light on the positive work happening in local communities.

The person or organisation with the most nominations in the competition will win a £1000 Town & City Gift Card, such as the Aberdeenshire Gift Card, with one person who nominated them winning a £500 gift card.

Founded in 2018, Peterhead Community Trust (PACT) is behind the transformation of the Barclay Park Pavilion into a useable community space and Victoria Community Park into an accessible community space with a free to use playpark with accessible swing and roundabout, free 9 hole mini golf, adult gym, sensory garden with accessible instruments, free to use floodlight pump track and floodlight MUGA.

A volunteer led charity, PACT was awarded the Most Enterprising Community title in the 2025 Scotland Loves Local Awards for their efforts which have improved residents’ wellbeing, cut crime and supported social enterprise.

Dianne Beagrie is the chair of PACT and said: “PACT has achieved remarkable community impact, transforming spaces and creating opportunities for all ages. Over the past year alone, PACT has delivered two major projects at Barclay Park and Victoria Park, both in areas of high deprivation. Both provide safe, inclusive, and accessible spaces for football, basketball, netball, cycling, and general recreation.

“These facilities, situated near the town centres, have become hubs for activity, social connection, and community pride, with access to green space. People can sit and watch the world go by or take part in a free activity. It’s brilliant for all ages, from young people to older people.

“PACT’s trustees and volunteers give their time, energy, and expertise freely. They manage funding applications, oversee project delivery, maintain facilities, and organise community events — all while keeping the needs of local residents at the heart of everything they do. Their work demonstrates innovation, resilience, and a genuine commitment to making Peterhead a better place.

“If we won The BIG Christmas Giveback and the Aberdeenshire Gift Card prize, it would allow PACT to continue delivering high-quality facilities and activities, while helping make Christmas special for families across Peterhead.”

Led by Aberdeenshire Council, theAberdeenshire Gift Card can be spent with almost 400 north-east businesses. A new digital version of the card launched in August.

Suzanne Rhind, Aberdeenshire Council’s Strategic Town Centres Executive, said: “We’re proud to see this nomination for PACT, an organisation that demonstrates outstanding dedication to improving the lives of Peterhead residents. We’d love to see them win an Aberdeenshire Gift Card to further enhance and support their work this festive season. Please take a moment to nominate PACT at lovelocalwin.co.uk by the 28th November.

The Aberdeenshire Gift Card is part of the Scotland Loves Local Gift Card supported by Scotland’s Towns Partnership and fintech Miconex. Over 20,000 local businesses are part of Miconex’s local gift card programmes around the world with over £45m spent locally through the cards.

Colin Munro is the CEO of Miconex and said: “The Aberdeenshire Gift Card is a positive force for good in the Aberdeenshire area, giving consumers and organisations a local option for rewards, incentives and support. The BIG Christmas Giveback is also about giving back to the organisations, charities and individuals going above and beyond to support our communities. Congratulations to PACT for their nomination.”
