STV and Entrepreneurial Scotland have joined forces to celebrate entrepreneurship across Scotland to launch the awards which replaces Entrepreneurial Scotland’s Entrepreneur of the year awards.
Following the sale of Ecosse Subsea earlier in 2018, subsea entrepreneur Mike Wilson launched EIP with a start-up investment of £2 million.  The plan is to take EIP from a £2m start-up to a £100m company within 5 years.  The company already has a range of patented products, including Ambient Lifter, that provides operators with an end-to-end solution to the subsea, oil and gas, decommissioning, offshore wind and renewable energy sectors.
Recently, EIP successfully completed its initial harbour trials in which their newly designed product, Ambient Lifter, lifted 5Te in a controlled lift. The EIP engineering team are now in the midst of preparing for the next harbour trials, set for early 2019, in which its larger Ambient Lifter, working in combination with an ROV, will undergo trials to lift 10Te.
On receiving the news that he is a finalist for the Summit – Celebrating Scottish Entrepreneurship award, Mike Wilson said: “I was really delighted to learn that I had been shortlisted for the award, 2018 has been a great year starting with the successful sale of Ecosse Subsea to Oceaneering through to applying my breadth of industry knowledge and expertise to establish EIP in July. Working with a newly formed team and scaling up the operations is exciting and definitely keeping us all extremely busy.  We are already working with a number of  operators who are interested in applying the technology to their future decommissioning projects.”
