McDonalds Franchisee Allan Paterson, who owns and operates three restaurants in Aberdeenshire, is proud to launch a new Christmas toy donation campaign in partnership with several local food banks in the area. The initiative invites customers to donate new, wrapped toys, which will be distributed alongside the food banks’ Christmas food parcels to families most in need in the local community.

Allan Paterson and the restaurant teams have a long history of supporting community initiatives in their local area, and this year’s Christmas campaign reflects their ongoing commitment to helping families during a time that can be particularly challenging. The donated toys will be distributed to families across Aberdeenshire, ensuring the support reaches children in the same communities the restaurants serve.

The campaign will officially launch in-store on Thursday 20th November, with Trussell Food Bank in attendance, at both the Peterhead and Asda Fraserburgh restaurants. The teams are excited to welcome customers who would like to get involved and help make Christmas brighter for local children this Christmas period.

Allan Paterson, who owns and operates three restaurants in the Aberdeenshire area, said: “Supporting our community is incredibly important to us, and we’re proud to play a small part in helping make Christmas a little brighter for local families. The thought of helping children who might otherwise have nothing to open on Christmas Day is something that resonates with deeply. Everyone is genuinely excited to get involved, and I look forward to coming together to share the festive spirit and make a real difference to children in our area.”

Derek Hart, Strategy & Projects Manager at Trussell Food Bank, said: “We are delighted to be partnering with McDonald’s to provide Christmas gifts for these children, as part of their food parcel provision. Peterhead and Fraserburgh food banks provide emergency food parcels to individuals and families in the towns and surrounding areas who are in crisis and experiencing hardship. This vital provision creates breathing space to enable them to address the circumstances which led to the situations of poverty and hunger in which they currently find themselves.  This can be increasingly difficult during the festive season.”

In the last year, Trussell Food Bank delivered nearly 4,000 food parcels to well over 6,000 people, with children accounting for approximately a quarter of that total.
