Aberdeenshire service company nets deals worth over £600,000

Westhill-based oil service company ThinJack Ltd has secured deals worth in excess of £600,000 since April this year.

A focus on ongoing innovation and a push to increase the company’s global footprint have proved to be a successful marriage throughout 2017, with work in traditional marketplaces and exploration of new territories combining to yield solid results for the year to date.

ThinJack has a strong global reputation for riglessly separating seized well flanges and, earlier this year, it added wellhead theft deterrent NuttySecurity to the portfolio. Described as “the oilfield and industrial equivalent of car wheel security nuts” the system had been developed with particular focus on the Nigerian and Egyptian markets. It is delivered in collaboration with representatives in Lagos, Nigeria and Cairo, Egypt and ThinJack is seeking a representative in Indonesia.

Meanwhile, ThinJackGAP – which is celebrating its first year on the market – has been used on two recent well flange separations, displaying “real time” gap data and reducing the time needed to separate some extremely stuck flanges.

Meanwhile plans to grow the company’s foothold in Malaysia took a significantly step forward recently thanks to the formation of an alliance with a key local representative. ThinJack recently separated a tree cap flange, fused on to the top of a gas condensate well, after thirty years of production and now, building on this success, has formed a strategic alliance with MKI Engineering Services (Sarawak) Sdn. Bhd. MKI will represent ThinJack in Malaysia, with equipment to be shipped from Scotland for deployment as and when required. The venture has been well supported by ThinJack’s Kevin Saunders, in Australia.

Commenting on the successful year to date, ThinJack Ltd Managing Director Guy Bromby said: “Low cost production enhancement from repairing previously shut in platform wells has replaced more expensive subsea developments and drilling programmes. Moreover, the overseas markets are increasingly using technology services to eliminate hours of critical path time, instead of using conventional techniques, and so flow a well earlier. The combination of these, as well as an ethical and mutually trusting interaction with our customers, has increased the popularity of ThinJack’s specialist services.”
