Scottish law firm Aberdein Considine has completed a year of fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support and donated more than £32,000 to the charity.

A wide ranging programme full of 10k runs, half marathons and bake sales was rounded off with special lunch events in Edinburgh and Aberdeen.
Criminal law secretary Denise Elrick was among those to take on personal challenges, raising more than £2,000 alone through a sponsored head shave.
Ruth Aberdein, chair of Aberdein Considine’s charity committee, said: “Each year we nominate a charity and have taken great pride throughout 2014 in raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
“It was a choice which was taken to heart by all at the firm and we’re delighted to have contributed to the wonderful work carried out by Macmillan.
“It was a real team effort, supported not only by the staff at Aberdein Considine but also by clients and many others who contribute to the events staged throughout the year.”
Isla Dewar, a fundraising manager with Macmillan Cancer Support, said the charity could not carry out the valuable work it does without the support of firms like Aberdein Considine.
She said: “Cancer can be the loneliest place. Macmillan can be there, but not without the support of firms like Aberdein Considine.
“We are hugely grateful to their staff and clients for the range of fundraising activity they took part in, enjoyed, and, in some instances, endured.
“The total raised is astounding and will help Macmillan Cancer Support reach more people affected by cancer, so no one has to face it alone.”
The events staged were part of the firm’s commitment to Corporate and Social Responsibility (CSR).
In addition to charity work, Aberdein Considine also invested in a varied sponsorship programme which included backing for champions Newtonmore in shinty’s top flight and the sport’s Sir William Sutherland Cup. In football, Culter Football Club benefited from the firm’s support, whilst Dyce Rugby Club also received a financial boost.
Ms Aberdein added: “Aberdein Considine has a national presence now, with our work in Edinburgh and Glasgow in particular growing during 2014. As a firm we aim to be at the heart of the communities we serve, and each of our offices support their local community in some way. Our CSR activity will continue to evolve and expand to reflect that and we look forward to another year of activity.”
The firm will now turn its fundraising efforts to Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS), which staff have selected as their chosen charity for 2015.
CHAS provides the only hospice services in Scotland for children and young people who have life-shortening conditions for which there is no known cure.
