ABOYNE Golf Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Euan Mackie as the preferred bidder for the catering franchise at the club commencing 9th November 2019.

Euan joins from ‘The Airedale’ in Logie Coldstone and will bring his ‘Wee Heilan Bistro’ trading name to the club.

Commenting on his appointment Euan said, “I am delighted to have been awarded the contract at Aboyne Golf Club. The Council have a great vision for the club and are keen to open up the clubhouse facilities to allow other members of the local community to experience the wonderful facilities and vista. There is a clear demand for another competitively priced quality dining facility on Royal Deeside and we will look to fill that gap.”
Euan added “I have been lucky to have been trained by some exceptionally skilled chefs. We will bring this fayre and supporting high levels of customer service to Aboyne as we build on the club’s growing national reputation.”

Euan undertook his professional training with Nick Nairn at the ‘Braeval Old Mill’ restaurant, Aberfoyle achieving the Michelin rosette award and the Scottish Field magazines ‘Restaurant of the Year’ two years running. Thereafter his career has seen him work in a variety of hotels and restaurants in the Central Belt and down in England including running the kitchens at the ‘Farthingstone Hotel & Golf Course’ complex in Northamptonshire.

Returning to Donside, Euan managed the ‘Allargue Arms’ (Briggies) at Corgarff and thereafter the ‘Colquhonnie Hotel’ in Strathdon before taking up his most recent role at The Airedale.

President Justin Grant said “Euan has excellent credentials and a good track record for his food. We are fortunate to secure his services leading up to the Christmas trading period where his culinary skills will be on show.

Euan and his team at ‘Wee Heilan Bistro’ will be key to our future success as we diversify our offering to local residents and attract more visiting golfers to the area. We greatly look forward to this joint venture with Euan.”
