This award is the industry’s gold standard for firms of financial planners, and confirmed that Acumen Financial Planning has satisfied the Chartered Insurance Institute’s rigorous qualification criteria.

To achieve this, the firm has retained highly-qualified staff who subscribe to the CII’s membership conditions. It has also shown a commitment to continuing professional development and adherence to an industry standard Code of Ethics.

The CII is empowered by the Privy Council to award Chartered status, and the award is only made in deserving cases. Only the UK’s premier financial planning firms qualify for Chartered status and they remain the benchmark of professional excellence and integrity.

To date, there are only 660 firms across the UK which have achieved this status, of which only a few have both the Chartered and Accredited status, indicating that this is a highly exclusive award reserved for the leading firms within the financial advice market.

Acumen Financial Planning specialises in providing bespoke financial planning advice on savings and investments, pensions and retirement planning, and estate planning.

Established 12 years ago by Managing Director Sandy Robertson, the firm has one of the highest qualified teams of financial planners in Scotland. It also currently has 27 staff and offices in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Elgin and Peterhead.

Sandy Robertson, Managing Director, feels that securing Chartered status is a landmark for the company.

He said: “We have always prided ourselves on being thoroughly professional in everything we do, and to receive external recognition in this way is very gratifying. As Chartered Financial Planners, this strengthens our commitment to the highest levels of service to our clients.”

David Gow, a Chartered Financial Planner and Director of Acumen Financial Planning said: “The distinction of achieving Corporate Chartered Financial Planners status cements Acumen Financial Planning’s professional offering of first class service for clients.

“Whether building wealth, reducing tax or protecting their family, clients can be safe in the knowledge that Acumen Financial Planning provides first class professional support in building them a sustainable future”

This latest accreditation compliments an already successful year for Acumen Financial Planning, with increased staff numbers, a new workplace pension service for corporate clients and most recently, the appointment of two senior members of staff to Directors, David Gow and Keith Mackie.
