Aberdeen’s Third Sector Interface (ACVO) is recruiting a new Communications Officer (Content & Campaigns) as part of an exciting restructuring of its communications team, creating an opportunity for a creative digital storyteller to help showcase the work of charities, community groups and volunteers across the city.
The new role follows a restructure of ACVO’s Communications Team that will see current Digital Media Assistant Emily Shepherd step into the role of Communications Officer (Digital & Engagement) working alongside a newly appointed Communications Officer (Content & Campaigns) to form a dedicated two person team supporting the organisation’s growing communications activity.
The successful candidate will play a leading role in producing engaging digital content across video, photography, websites, podcasts, social media and written digital publications, helping to tell the stories of the organisations, volunteers and partnerships that make a positive difference throughout Aberdeen.
Working across ACVO’s communications platforms, including the ACVO website, Volunteer Aberdeen, ACVO News and a range of digital campaigns, the postholder will work closely with charities, community groups, volunteers and partners to capture authentic stories and promote opportunities for people to get involved in their communities.
ACVO Chief Executive Maggie Hepburn said:” Communications plays a vital role in everything we do at ACVO. It enables us to share the stories of charities, community groups and volunteers, connect organisations with the support they need and encourage more people to get involved. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about creative storytelling to join ACVO and help champion the incredible work taking place across the city.”
Current Communications Officer, Andrew Davidson, who will leave ACVO later this year after almost six years with the organisation, said:
“One of the things I’ve enjoyed most about working at ACVO has been the opportunity to meet incredible people doing extraordinary work in communities across Aberdeen. No two days have ever been the same. Meeting the people behind inspiring projects, filming their work, designing websites, creating digital campaigns and sharing their stories has been a privilege, helping to showcase the positive difference the third sector makes across our city.
“During my time at ACVO we’ve transformed the way we communicate with Aberdeen’s third sector, developing new digital platforms, expanding our video content, growing the reach of our campaigns and digital publications, and finding new ways to connect people with opportunities to get involved. Seeing those stories reach wider audiences and celebrate the work happening every day across Aberdeen has been incredibly rewarding.
“I’m really pleased that Emily will be stepping into the Communications Officer role as part of this new team structure. She has a strong understanding of ACVO’s work and the organisations we support, and I’m looking forward to seeing the Communications Team continue developing and supporting ACVO’s work in the years ahead.”
Applicants should have experience in digital content creation, video production, website management and social media, alongside excellent communication and organisational skills. The role would suit someone who enjoys creative storytelling, is comfortable managing multiple projects and is passionate about using communications to create positive social impact.
