Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce (AGCC) is delighted to announce its charity partners for the 21st annual Northern Star Business Awards 2025, the region’s largest business celebration.

After careful consideration, social care charity VSA and local children’s charity AberNecessities have been selected to receive donations from this year’s awards ceremony.

Delivered in partnership with Brodies LLP, this year’s celebration will take place on Friday, April 25, 2025, at P&J Live, and will celebrate the exceptional accomplishments of organisations across the region.

Over 70 organisations have been shortlisted across 15 categories at this year’s ceremony.

Both charities do life-changing work in the community and all donations raised on the night will help make a difference.

AberNecessities is a local children’s charity based in the North-east and provides disadvantaged families with the essential and basic necessities that no child should go without.

Since launching in 2019, AberNecessities has supported over 18,000 children, distributing hundreds of thousands of items to families across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire

Danielle Flecher-Horn, founder of AberNecessities said: “AberNecessities is extremely honoured to have been selected as one of the charity partners for this year’s prestigious Northern Star Awards.

“As a local charity, we are always humbled by the incredible generosity of individuals and the local business community which allows us to ensure that no child goes without.”

Social care charity VSA has also been selected as a charity partner for this year’s ceremony.

Formed in 1870, the not-for-profit organisation is one of the oldest social care charities in Scotland and are at the forefront of providing vital care and support to vulnerable children and adults living in Aberdeen, and beyond.

For 150 years, the charity has supported the physical, emotional, mental and social wellbeing of individuals through a range of residential and outreach support systems.

Aimee Anderson, Director of Business Development, Marketing and Innovation at VSA said: “We are honoured to be selected as a charity partner for the upcoming Northern Star Business Awards.

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Aberdeen Grampian Chamber of Commerce for their support. The funds raised during the event will support vulnerable children and adults in the North-east of Scotland.

“We look forward to celebrating with everyone on the evening.”

Russell Borthwick, Chief Executive at Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce said: “We are delighted to support these two charities that do exceptional work across our region.

“Each year, our charity partners continue to provide vital support to those who need it most, and the work of AberNecessities and VSA is crucial in ensuring no one is left behind.

“We are inspired by the meaningful difference these charities make in our communities and look forward to honouring their invaluable contributions at this year’s Northern Star Business Awards.”

Please note that all donations are to be made in cash.
