Ann did not have to look far for the ideal addition to her team as her husband of 19 years officially takes over the reins of the operational support side of the business.

Gary, who had been on furlough from his previous position since March 2020, had time to refocus his career aspirations and reassess how he wanted to spend his working life. Having worked in the hydraulic products sector since 1982 and having had only four employers in that time, Gary is looking forward to a new challenge working for his wife.

“It has only taken almost 40 years to decide I need a change!” Gary laughs.

“The last 12 months have been a challenge for everyone but in my case, having been furloughed for the entire year, allowed plenty of time to reflect on my career. I have been working in the same industry all my working life and to have that suddenly no longer exist was a shock to the system, but a welcome chance to reassess where I was heading professionally. You begin to ask yourself who and what means the most, and most importantly, what gets me motivated?”

“I am delighted to be joining my wife Ann at Ann McRobb Associates. Since she launched the business in 2012, I have watched her diligently grow her client base. It is now time to put my energy and focus into supporting Ann and the team as the business continues to go from strength to strength.”

The company, based in Dyce, has extensive knowledge and experience in all areas of training and competency and delivers large-scale projects supporting major energy, marine and drilling organisations across the globe. Ann has over 20 years’ experience in the industry and has built a solid, global client base as well as a team of trusted subject matter experts.

“I am genuinely looking forward to the new challenge,” continues Gary. “What makes it even more fulfilling is that Ann has only ever engaged with associates that truly meet her level of expectations in terms of experience, knowledge, integrity and quality, so I know that I will be working alongside a solid team that is second to none.

“My focus will primarily be on Business Development and operational support, however I will support Ann in making the tea, sweeping up and anything else ‘The Boss’ tells me to do!”

Ann says she is delighted that her husband has accepted the role, “We work so well together and as the business continues to grow, I needed someone I completely trusted to share the load and Gary was the obvious choice.

“He brings a wealth of experience to the business and I have so much respect for his career to date. I am very excited for the future with Gary by my side professionally.”
