Residents in Montrose Street and Poets Place, Brechin are now benefiting from warmer, more energy-efficient homes following the successful completion of Angus Council’s latest energy efficiency improvement project.
The works formed part of the council’s ongoing commitment to improving housing quality, reducing fuel poverty and supporting the transition to more sustainable communities.
The completed improvements include:
• Installation of new energy-efficient windows to improve insulation and reduce heat loss.
• Extraction and replacement of cavity wall insulation to ensure homes benefit from effective thermal performance.
• External Wall Insulation (EWI) to provide an additional layer of protection, helping homes stay warmer for longer and reducing energy consumption.
Together, these improvements will help residents enjoy more comfortable homes, lower heating costs and reduced carbon emissions.

The project was delivered with funding from the Scottish Government’s Area Based Scheme (ABS), enabling private homeowners to participate alongside council tenants and ensuring the benefits of energy efficiency improvements are shared across the community. The works were successfully carried out by Cardo Ltd, whose teams worked closely with residents throughout the project to minimise disruption while delivering the upgrades.
The completed project is another example of Angus Council’s investment in creating high-quality, sustainable homes that support both residents and the environment.
