Its Board of Directors decided that Pat would take up the post following his retirement from the Chief Executive role at the Group’s annual general meeting. He will now follow John McIntosh, who retired as Chairman on Tuesday after 11 years in the role.

The ANM Group is based at the Thainstone Centre near Inverurie, and is acclaimed as one of the most modern and innovative auction centres in Europe.

Outgoing Chair, John McIntosh, said: “After 24 years’ service on the Board, I am proud to be handing the reins over to Pat.

“We are delighted that Pat has agreed to take over as Chairman of the Group with his wealth of knowledge and experience. During his three years as Chief Executive he has turned the business around and returned it to profitability and really delivered to our members.”

Former CEO, Pat Machray, said: “After three years in the role, I am now handing over to our very able Executive Directors, Grant Rogerson and John Gregor, supported by our Group Executive Support Manager and Group Accountant. Together as an executive team, I am confident that they will deliver success for the Group as a whole.

“I would like to thank our former Chair, John McIntosh, who has been a great influence at the helm over the years.”

The Group has also announced Peter Watson as its new Vice-Chair, after nearly three years on the board. Peter has a farming background, running a 1,400-acre beef cattle and arable farm based at Darnford. The farm has been built up over the last 30 years and Peter now works alongside his sons.

Pat Machray added: “This hands-on insight and broad industry knowledge is key to our business.”
