The winners of the three categories were announced at an awards dinner held at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) and attended by more than 140 decommissioning professionals.

The Outstanding Innovation category was taken home by Ecosse IP Ltd for its Ambient Lifter, which offers a cost effective and safe subsea lifting solution.

Excellence in Collaboration was awarded to Spirit Energy for their partnership with The Oil and Gas Technology Centre, recognising their roles in transformational thermite technology in significantly reducing well decommissioning costs. This effort stood out for the way in which it demonstrated that a range of companies can work together towards a common benefit without a formal contract.

A new category for this year, ‘Young Professional in Decommissioning’, recognised the work undertaken by the next generation of industry professionals and was awarded to Rebecca Allan, Decommissioning Lead of Xodus Group.

Highlighting a key session of the conference; ‘The Human Face of Decommissioning’ where the human role in decommissioning will be examined, attendees of the evening were treated to guest speaker, Gretchen Haskins, CEO of HeliOffshore a leader in the aviation industry for safety performance improvement and an internationally-recognised expert in human factors.

Decom North Sea’s Chief Executive, John Warrender, said: “Highlighting the pioneering work of our members is an important part of the Decom North Sea remit. Inherent to the success of our sector is a commitment to both technological innovation and cooperation, and it is our honour to celebrate those achievements. The awards offer a fantastic platform to share experiences with the most relevant of audiences. I pass on my congratulations to all those who were shortlisted and look forward to seeing what the next year has in store for the decommissioning sector.”
