Several organisations have held multiple events at the venue, ranging from boardroom meetings to major conferences using each of the centre’s exhibition and event spaces.
Aberdeen Science Centre underwent a multi-million-pound transformation in 2020 and is now equipped with high-tech AV for both in-person and hybrid events.
Access to the exhibition floor, which is home to more than 60 interactive exhibits including a chatty robot, RoboThespian, slinky treadmill and spaceship docking manoeuvre exhibit, provides a unique addition to the event experience.
Erin Flett, head of business development at Aberdeen Science Centre, said: “We hosted 46 events in the last financial year and so far this year we have hosted 25 corporate events in our versatile events space. We are seeing an increase in bookings via agencies, as well as educational charities like ourselves.
“Organisations can host their event in inspiring surroundings – and the chance to play on our hands-on exhibits is always a big hit! Having free access to the exhibits is really popular with event delegates as it often acts as a useful ice breaker when people first arrive at an event, and during breakout and networking sessions.”
The space on offer at Aberdeen Science Centre can be configured to suit different types and sizes of event.
The centre has three purpose-built meeting rooms and a split-level upper exhibition floor. This can be redefined as a conference or exhibition space or used to host a drinks reception with catering from its on-site provider, Grub Fresh Food.
Every event held at Aberdeen Science Centre helps the venue – a 5-star rated visitor attraction and registered charity – to continue working with schools and communities from across the North of Scotland.
“We have an end goal of inspiring children and young people to have a lifelong interest in science,” Erin added. “Those using our services and hosting their event at the centre have the added bonus of knowing that not only are they contributing to the local economy, but they are also helping to build a legacy.”
Based on Constitution Street near Aberdeen beach, ASC is home to almost 65 interactive exhibits, allowing people of all ages to discover topics including Space, Energy, Life Sciences, Engineering, and much more.
Through invaluable sponsorships, Aberdeen Science Centre will continue developing impactful science engagements to the North-east of Scotland and help to safeguard the legacy of Scotland’s oldest science centre.
Aberdeen Science Centre is currently offering a 10% discount on exclusive use bookings in November 2024. For more information on the offer, which runs to the end of July, call Erin Flett on 01224 640340.
